Can't change my home page

Slap me if this is in the wrong place.

My home page is set to google.com and no matter what, I cannot chage this. It pisses me off. Please help.

How about Microsoft AntiSpyware beta? Did you by any chance use Spybot S&D to lock the homepage from being changed from within the browser? If so, close the browser (assuming Internet Explorer here) and go to Control Panel > Internet Options, and set it there.

I tried that. I changed it to blank and default then close the internet options dialog box. When I open it, it's back to google again.

What anti-spyware software do you have installed? One of them is 'protecting you' by setting it back automatically.

It's a home PC, no domain.

I'm running Adaware Pro with Ad Watch. Wonder if that could be doing it.

Ah ha, It was Adwatch that was doing it. Thanks bsobel. 🙂

Try hijackthis it is a great program.link to download

Make sure you understand what files to delete!!!
You can post your scan and some people will help you remove the bad files.
Good luck

Thanks Sully, I did run hijackthis and it came up clean. It was Adwatch causing the problem. i turned off "protect from browser highjacking" and it fixed the problem. Now all I have to do is figure out how to change my home page AND remain protected. 🙂
