Can't change MPEG Audio Decoder settings permanently?

Hello, I'm having a problem with a .DAT file taken off of a VCD. It's a karaoke CD, so the DAT file has both first and second channel, with the second channel being for the actual voice of the singer. (I'm using Media Player 6.4 BTW) It defaults to just the first channel whenever I open the file and I want to set it to both (the option is under File - > Properties -> Advanced -> MPEG Audio Decoder -> Properties -> and then Channel. There is a Set As Default button, but whenever I choose Both and click on it, the next time I open the file it reverts back to First Channel...is this a bug or is there someway to fix this? All the other video files I have default to Both, I don't know why this one doesn't... any help would be appreciated, thanks!
