Walmart is not selling Firearms in California, and I guess they decided Air Rifles should be included as well.

OP, please help attempt to defeat the disgusting CA bills that are only one committee and the Governor's signature away from becoming law, if in fact you do support 2A rights. Wednesday is a huge day. ( I recommend Calguns.net )
Well, Walmart's online is tre fucked up if that's the case. You have no clue that the shit you put in your cart won't process... either for delivery or pickup! It's ridiculous, and just as bad or worse you can't get someone on the phone to confirm/explain anything.

As a matter of fact I am not for those 2A "rights" for deadly firearms. My BB gun is another matter. There's an epidemic of gun violence around here, in particular in neighboring Oakland, and IMO the only way it's going to stop short of an economic boom (I'm not holding my breath on that) is an assault on gun ownership. Yes, it will be only criminals with guns in their hands, but in time their numbers will diminish apace. :colbert:

And then they suddenly won't be criminals either :awe:

As if them having guns were the only issue and the crimes they commit with them will suddenly cease too.

Without fear of just retaliation/self-defense, knife crimes will not increase simply because the would-be criminals don't have guns.

Knife crimes will/would increase no doubt but just how scared are you of a knife when you're behind the counter at a liquor store compared to when joe blow used to come in maybe with a concealed gun? Knives are scary but not as scary. Just sayin'... it would be a whole new ballgame if guns were very scarce.

Buy from budsgunshop.com. I got a sweet rifle for a good price. It doesn't shoot pellets either. Shipped to California no problem. I am now a happily armed mofo.

Fuck Walmart. Almost 2 hours later, I still haven't been able to talk to someone who knows shit about this (i.e. their Sports Department). You call them and someone answers the phone but try to connect to a specific department and you're SOL, has been my experience. I was hooked up to the electronics department, then a different department, WTF.

So, I want ahead and ordered through Amazon, no problems at all. It cost me more but I don't have to drive over or deal with Walmart's we-can't-ship-it-to-you-or-order-for-pickup, due to "restrictions" nonsense.

:(

Try to buy any compressed air guns in SF, they're all banned. That includes air soft and paintball guns. Talking about retarded.

Good, enjoy not having your BB gun.

The unarmed liquor store owner would likely be a lot more scared of a knife than an armed liquor store owner is of a gun. The threat is now a lot more enforcible.

OK, I think we're off topic some here. I don't want this to devolve into a gun control discussion. Thanks to everyone who participated. I never succeeded in talking to Walmart Sports Department personnel. They were supposed to call me back and didn't. I reasoned, "why drive over there even if they will sell it to me if I go in person (which it appeared they wouldn't) when I can pay $10 more and have it delivered?" I would have driven but couldn't get them on the phone, so that was a non issue.

Well, duh! The pellets are made of lead, a substance known to cause cancer and birth defects in California.

Since you're in California, you probably have no clue how many products the rest of us see on shelves with little tags attached that say, "not for sale in California.."

Not sure why you'd brag about being able to buy small tins of lead material, including dust.

By the way, I bought a .44 Magnum lever action rifle at a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in California a few years ago. Pretty sure they still sell firearms, ammo and air rifles. If all else fails look for a Turner's Outdoorsman.

Uhh, the products go far beyond just pellets for guns. I'm constantly finding tags on things that say 'banned for sale in California' which make me wonder, "just why the heck do they have a problem with THIS??"

I think Californians like to think they're in the forefront. I do realize how annoying, egregious and smug this is. It's an order of magnitude worse here in Berkeley! the city council is always making sweeping declarations concerning proper conduct for people far far away, even on the other side of the planet. They think they are the epitome of progressive. I think the mayor is a total sellout, myself. I wouldn't vote for Tom Bates if he were the only candidate and the position would have to go empty without my vote.

And I did not realize the existence of those tags. Well, in this instance, based solely on what I've seen in this thread, it appears that Walmart is not selling this stuff because of a policy they decided upon, not because it's illegal for Californians to buy BB/Pellet guns. And to reiterate, when I found that I could not reach people at Walmart who could tell me WTF was going on, I simply bought off Amazon... I'm awaiting delivery next week.

Wow. Look at that. Feature creep.

Assault guns are bad becomes rifles are bad becomes all guns are bad becomes YOU CAN'T GET YOUR BB GUN, because of Walmart's over reaction. There is no half-way when it comes to politicians and law. Think your BB gun is different? I'll bet a lot of your politicians don't.

It kind of makes me wonder too... wonder why I would want or need these mysterious items you can't seem to name that I can't buy and that I probably don't have any use for anyway. Geez, it's just so awful living here, I think I'll move back to Western New York. :p

Don't tell anybody but I still have the water pistol my girl friend gave me.

***dripping with sarcasm***

I'm with ya, buddy.
They usually say "Not for sale in CA" instead of "banned."

There might be a difference.

Regarding https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=E46BB480E134A82A&id=E46BB480E134A82A!4231&v=3 -- The reasoning behind banning the lead pellets is I think principally because there are species in CA that are endangered principally because of the lead poisoning that's happening by virtue of lead in ammo. They are either shot or eat animals that are shot with lead ammo, or are higher in that poisoned food chain. I'm not against the ban! I do not intend to contribute to that problem. Doing some research on my BB gun purchase I encountered a whole lot of folks who seem to think it's good sport to shoot birds. I think that sucks.
