Select 12x(and have tried two different 12X media) and begin the burn. For about one second in the recording screen it shows 12X, then drops to 4X and stays there. When I burn a CDRW(data) at 10X, it works fine. Using Adaptec Easy CD 4. Have only tried burning audio CD-R's so far-no data, although I don't think it will matter. Have had CD-ROM and CD-RW on and off DMA. No difference. On different channels also. Never made a coaster-works fine. Would just like to burn at 12X like it should.

Humor me, and try data anyways...

I wonder if the program doesn't want to burn audioa at 12x because it thinks the quality won't be good enough for some cd-players(home or car systems)?

I had a similar problem with my Acer 8x CDRW. I tried different setups with Ease CD Creator 3.5. Updated firmware, etc. I posted Help! here and someone suggested Nero. No problem with Nero at full 8x. If all fail, try a different software.

If you are doing a cd to cd copy its probably because you can't keep up with the burner.
otherwise you may have to set the swap file usage in adaptec(it uses its own swapfile)
