My nose is a little crooked, which leaves one side mostly constricts and, when I breathe in, the opposite nostril's outer wall collapses and seal. I can twist my nose to better seal the mostly constricted side and breathe in to demonstrate: My remaining nostril will deform and seal shut, almost like it popped inside out.
Normally, I can flare my nostrils and be just fine. When I sleep and can't consciously flare my nostrils, so I snore or breathe through my mouth unless I can prop my head up sideways on a pillow and let the gravity pulling my head down lift the part of my face touching the pillow. Though I suspect that it was worsened by some cheap medicaid surgeon the did something when I was about seven or eight (as if I wouldn't grow into my cartilage!), I've now gone over 27 years using these techniques without a big problem, until I put on my full-face motorcycle helmet and glasses. I can't flare my nostrils because there are pads pressing against my face. When I breathe out of my mouth, the visor and my glasses fog up to 0% visibility.
All my problems would be solved with a simple cone-shapped tube that I could insert into my nose, but I can't find anything like it. Lord knows, I experimented plenty when I was a teenager (straws poke, cut, are uncomfortable, and don't generally allow enough air because they aren't wide enough at the opening.
After searching the webernets, I find page after page of patents for medical devices and farm animals (why would you need to prop open a horse's nostrils?). I did find one thing that might be what I'm looking for, but I can't get a bigger picture or better product description. The pacakaging looks way too much like those useless nasil strips that stick to the skin and lift (useless as my primary constriction is much higher up and my skin is too oily and I will sweat on the road).
Any ideas? Am I going to be the only guy on the road with this problem?
