Please help me.

I have a GYGABITE mother board (don't remember model number) with dualboot UEFI/Legacy BIOS. The board has SATA2, SATA3, and two WHITE SATA 6Gbps ports.

I have RocketRAID 2720SGL installed and it is connected to a 5 bay hard drive caddy. All 5 bays are populated with 6TB HITACHI HIGH SPEED Enterprise drives, designed specifically for high-speed data transfers and they support SATA600. All 5 drives are connected to the RocketRAID card via SAS-to-SATA(4) cables. Port 0 on the RocketRaid is connected to the first 4 drives out of the total number of 5. Drives are configured as RAID 1/0 yielding me 12TB of high speed storage. The 5th drive I have just configured as a JBOD volume.

At first I wanted to install Windows 10 Pro on the 5th drive (the JBOD volume), but I couldn't even get it to show up in Windows Installation Drive Selection Screen, (even after loading the RocketRaid drivers at same screen) The 12TB RAID is the only one showing up. I have tried setting the JBOD drive as a boot drive with-in the HPT raid software but still, it wouldn't come up. Perhaps it is because it is a JBOD volume, but no, why would it be. I gave up and decided to just install Windows 10 on the 12TB RAID...

At first, Windows Install was giving me errors, but that's because Legacy BIOS only supports MBR, so I had to boot into UEFI just to be able to format the 12TB volume as a GPT drive, deleted and recreated partition and finally Windows Install went ahead. Install speed was great, copying files to the drive almost instant, I am happy! But really, my happiness was shortlived. When Windows installed, and the first reboot has occurred, the 12TB volume would not boot! It went straight back to booting from a USB. I have removed the USB and rebooted again. Now all is get is "Select proper Boot Device...blah blah blah...

WHAT DO I DO?!?! Why the heck is it not booting? What am I doing wrong? Please, guys, help me!!

What other information I can provide to you guys?

Not all consumer boards will support booting off an addon card. Do you have any BIOS options for enabling Option ROM's?

The mobo model number is usually printed on the mobo.

So I have decided to connect the 5th bay to SATA 6 port on the motherboard (there are 2) so it should be SATA600 same at the RocketRAID Card....my question is, would the speed benefits and read/write access to the 12TB volume using the motherboard SATA6 port is going to be pretty much the same as if got the RAID card to work? The install seemed to fly through! I was able to install on a GPT partition using the full 6TB, which is what I always wanted in the first place, but then I got infected with the idea of booting from the RAID, and struggled with it for few days now...

That's actually a much more ideal setup. Rather than put the boot volume on the 12TB RAID, put the OS on a HDD or SSD connected to a chipset-native SATA6G port, and put the RAID array on the card, and load the OS drivers for the card. That means, that if you just use the RAID array for data, that you can actually upgrade the OS under the hood a lot easier, by swapping the drive on the native port and installing the new OS and the RAID card drivers for the new OS, and the RAID array should still be accessible.

VL, thank you sir for the input, much appreciated. Yes that is what I thought as well, although I was concerned with loosing access speed if the OS is not on the RAID volume. I am planning on using this rig for video editing and will store data on the 12TB volume, so I don't want there to be a lag when running Premier Pro from the OS volume, and calling for data on the RAID volume (that's where my data path will be set to in preferences), those were my thoughts behind booting from the RAID volume.....

Anyway, this has been solved. Using native SATA6 port for OS volume and RocketRAID for the rest of the drives. RAID 1/0

Highpoint 2720SGL has a new bios update for expecially 8~10TB Drives. The build number is 1.16. If you have a lower build, (ex. 1.14) you must update to this build by downloading: http://www.highpoint-tech.com/BIOS_Driver/rr272x_1x/BIOS/RR272x_1x_BIOS_v1.16_16_07_06.zip

v1.16 07/06/2016
* Fix bug that BIOS can not detect all HGST 10TB SAS disks.

v1.15 06/17/2016
* Fix bug that BIOS can not detect all ST 8TB SATA disks.

v1.14 09/02/2015
* Fix a bug that critical RAID will be lost after failed to boot system.
* Fix compatible issue that failed to load BIOS on ASUS Z170 board.
