I have set the boot sequence in the Pheonix BIOS for this 2 yr old PC to have the CD as first choice - but for some reason it still boots off the HD . The CD disk is bootable as tried it on another PC . What is the problem ?
Other possibilities are that the CD can't be read by the older machine or the CD drive isn't working correctly. Does the drive read CD's when you're in Windows?
CalvinHobbes and tr1kstanc3 - thanks for your help . This is what I have managed to find out (from Device Manager ) . HD is WDC 1600JS60NCB1 - doesn't say if it's IDE or SATA . The CD/DVD entry has 2 . One with a red cross is Generic Stealth DVD SCSI CD-ROM . Second ( no red cross ) is HLDTST DVD ROM GSAHION SCSI . From XP , dvd's can be read and run . Am trying to boot mtest and WDC Diagnostics .
