can't boot into SL - help?

I'm confused here, when I boot from my flash drive my SL loads fine (from my HD) but when I try to boot without the flash drive, the OSX boot screen comes up and after about 10 seconds I get a kernel panic. It's been months since I installed SL so I'm not remembering which exact boot loader I used. I don't want to screw up my SL, and I don't want to have to continue to use the flash drive to get into SL. Any suggestions for a semi OSX n00b?

time to boot into safe mode. restart the computer and before you hear the apple chime, keep holding shift.

are you using hackintosh or a real mac? the shortcuts could be different...🙂

Hackintosh, I usually do -s from the boot prompt to get safe mode, err I think it's -s. But once I get to my desktop what do I do from there? I'm not sure which loader I used if I install a different one won't it mess things up? I think I have chamel0n but I could be mistaken. I know I used that when I was on on regular Leopard.
 
how do you have cham setup on hard drive? Seperate partition? Installed in EFI? Or just installed on main snow partition?

I have similar but opposite problem lol, works perfect off harddrive but not off usb anymore.

I don't recall, I have a lot of stuff installed and don't want to have to reinstall SL fresh to get it to boot off the HD. I'm not sure what kind of damage I could do if I tried to reinstall the boot loader on my HD. Especially when I'm not 100% sure which I used or what partition I put it on. I just wanna not have to use my flash drive any more.
