Can't boot into safe mode

For some reason within the last two weeks, I have been unable to boot into safe mode. I am hitting F8 right after post, but nothing happens and the computer just keeps going until it boots into Windows. Any thoughts on why this might be happening???? I'm lost.

MS says..............

MORE INFORMATION
To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps: 1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.

That's not working. When given the chance to boot into safe mode, pressing F8 does nothing and my system just boots into Windows. Do you think it has to do with my Silicon Image mode which is set up for eSATA? Should I disable this to boot into safe mode?
