I have an MX510 and I can't asign the buttons next to the wheel (5 and 6, I guess) in any game. I have installed the driver, software from logitech, I can use them in windows, but not in games.

In logitech software settings? Will do, thanks Animal

EDIT: The buttons are assigned by logitech as cruise up/down. I don't know to what function to change them.

I have the same mouse as you, and what I did is I went to the driver software and assigned the buttons to a keystroke. When you go in the game, just assign that keystroke to what you want to do and the mouse buttons will do it.

Yeah, funny thing: I try that too but gave the duplicate..... (one of them was CTRL+W) so I though it didn't work, because I couldn't see anywere in the controls this key. But if it worked for you, I'll try different keys. Thanks

I had to remove the logitech software and use the default drivers (Microsoft) that came with the OS. Worked fine ever since.

If you think about it makes sense, it's like a device that cannot be changed or accessed because another program is using it. As soon as I get home I'll uninstall the software.
Thank you ryokum

only way i can use all the buttons with mx1k is to install the logitech setpoint software and remap buttons to keypresses. default xp driver doesn't do jack aside from the standard 3 buttons + scroll :(

I uninstalled the logitech software, but quickly went back to reinstalling it. Using the windows driver the coursor hardly moved on a resolution of 1280x1024 at speed-fast. I'll try againg to asign single keys and not combinations.
