For nVidia only, what's the next cheaper alternative if I cannot afford G-Sync?

Should I go for 144Hz? 1ms response? Both?

AMD is not an option for me, due to mining driven prices and lack of PhysX.

I am looking at 1080p only, since I cannot justify the cost of 1440p/4k ready cards.

I am NOT a competitive, hard core gamer, yet, I want to get something that would remain relevant for a few years.

Thanks!

With the stated criteria, I would pick up a 24" 1080p 144hz monitor with strobing. Something like this. I've had that exact monitor for 4-5yrs now and the strobing effect was glorious to behold coming from a regular 60hz LCD.

The alternative for gsync / freesync is tearing, stutter or input lag.

High refresh screen should mitigate it.
