Can't access user folder on primary drive of laptop HD in USB enclosure

I just put my laptop's old hard drive into a usb enclosure and hooked it up to my laptop with the new hard drive. The user on the old hard drive was password protected, and when I try to access that user's folder, of course it says "access denied". I tried booting up in safe mode, but it still gave me that message.

How do I access it, or how do I get it to prompt for a password?

Running XP Pro.
