Can't Access BIOS using "Del" Key ... Help

Hmmm . . . . just casually looking in on this thread . . . At first -- a bit confused, and here's why.

My P8Z68-V Pro board, released as the first of the Z68's, had NO . . . FREAKIN' . . . PS/2-ports. Nada. So obviously -- I bought the USB-to-PS/2 adapter -- or probably already had one in the parts locker.

I say this is strange for the following reason. The ASUS Z68 boards seemed to have "mature BIOS" for an initial release. You would think the Z77 boards build on the Z68 architecture, and I'd assumed so now for several months. If I were to build an IB now, I'd pick a Z77 ASUS board.

So how did the screw up a BIOS revision like this? Also -- I hadn't even looked closely enough at my Z68 board. Do the BIOS chips fit in an IC socket, or are they soldered in? And -- by the way -- "BIOSMan.com" seems to be "temporarily out of business." Who is available to custom-flash BIOS chips these days (if indeed the Z68 and Z77 chips are socketed and replaceable?)

MOBO: P8Z77-V PRO

I came across this problem today as well (and it used to work!)
No matter what I did, the DEL wouldn't work. Tried a USB/PS2 keyboard, and a USB keyboard. Neither worked.

But, this did.
Flashed the BIOS to the latest 1708 11/9/2012.
They added an F2 key, allowing either the DEL or F2 key. (YAY)

Hi All,

I've been having trouble getting into BIOS with the Del key also.
I have 2 mechanical key keyboards. One is by Thermaltake and the other is Aula. They are both marketed as gamin keyboards. Neither of these keyboards seem to have activating DEL buttons during boot up.
However I do have a Logitech G105 as well and this one will work fine.
So although I like to try out new keyboards, I can't give up the Logitech.
I am using an Asus Maximus Gene-Z MB.
I guess the MB is getting a little old now, but it's been a real little trooper. These days I just upgrade the GPU and everything chugs along quite nicely.
Anyway was just wondering if any new solutions have been found?

Cheers!

PS2 slots still exist guys. They still have them on Z270 motherboards. I remember reviews in 2010 of my X58A board I bought talking about how dumb it is to still include PS/2 slots on the board and given that USB 3.0 was pretty new then they should've put more USB ports instead. Well fast forward 7 years and your Z270E Strix still has them 🙂

I was having trouble entering the bios with my strafe so I had to use a different keyboard, as well. Apparently most corsair keyboards have a polling/bios switch or key combo press... Trouble entering the bios seems to be more common than it should be on these expensive mechanical keyboards...

the bios mode on my Strafe requires pressing some arbitrary buttons (hold F1 + windows lock for 3 seconds). It disables n-key rollover, and slows the polling rate, which I'm guessing might be important for usb compatibility? or maybe it just lets the keyboard boot faster? i dunno.
