Hmmm . . . . just casually looking in on this thread . . . At first -- a bit confused, and here's why.
My P8Z68-V Pro board, released as the first of the Z68's, had NO . . . FREAKIN' . . . PS/2-ports. Nada. So obviously -- I bought the USB-to-PS/2 adapter -- or probably already had one in the parts locker.
I say this is strange for the following reason. The ASUS Z68 boards seemed to have "mature BIOS" for an initial release. You would think the Z77 boards build on the Z68 architecture, and I'd assumed so now for several months. If I were to build an IB now, I'd pick a Z77 ASUS board.
So how did the screw up a BIOS revision like this? Also -- I hadn't even looked closely enough at my Z68 board. Do the BIOS chips fit in an IC socket, or are they soldered in? And -- by the way -- "BIOSMan.com" seems to be "temporarily out of business." Who is available to custom-flash BIOS chips these days (if indeed the Z68 and Z77 chips are socketed and replaceable?)
