Canon XSi

Okay folks, they've hit the shelves in Canada and some places overseas. Now i need to see the feedback from folks that are using them. I have many lenses and flash units that will transfer to this camera and i'm really considering it. Once it gets to a store near me i'll go down and play with it to see how it feels; but if i can hear from people who are actually using it, that would be extremely useful. thanks.

thanks for the links; been watching and reviewing them as they come up. what i'm really hoping for is feedback from people here; easier to ask questions and get specifics.

I'm surprised how well the XTi holds up against the XSi.

The XTi is a better value now; I'm regularly seeing new XTi bodies for $450-ish, an Dell had the XTi kit for $480 a week ago.

Rebel's always have the same MSRP at release since the 350D. The XSi will be cheaper in the next coming months.

Lol most people are wavering, deciding on when it's time or worthwhile to upgrade. I was slightly forced into that situation when all 4 of my film cameras mysteriously broke at the same time (can we say "kids"). I almost jumped on the XTi, but seen the reviews for the XSi and thought i would wait a bit longer. If there isn't a huge difference in feel and perceivable results, I'll probably just grab an XTi as they are trying to clear the shelves to make room for the XSi.

xti isn't going out of production. xt is going out of production. the xti will be the lowest in the lineup, now. and there it will stay until the next rebel is announced more than a year from now.

the XSi definitely adds some useful features (Live View, Spot Metering), but right now is priced too closely to the 40D.
I'll say again as I have many times that Nikon is sorely missing out right now without a body priced between the 450D and 40D (namely a D90/D80x/D80s).

Amen; you can pick up a new 40D body for ~$1000 on the 'bay right now; no sense paying $799 for an XSi body.

true, but the 40D has been out for how long now? And at best buy, it's no where near 1k, it's 1499 for the body and kit lens online, so probably 1299 for the body alone. The XSi is listed as 899 body (it lists it as w/ IS kit too... but we'll go w/ the body only).

Give it a month when the market is flooded w/ XSi's everywhere, then we'll see how the price compares.
