I don't know if this worth mentioning in a separate thread but yesterday I bought this Canon HF100 thru live.com search from Zipzoomfly ebay store with 30% cash back. The "buy now" price is $604, after cash back it's $420. Today the cash back showed pending on my account.

Newegg is selling it for $545, Buydig $543, Zipzoomfly $499 out of stock.

To get the deal, just sign in your cash back account and do the search. The Zipzoomfly store at ebay is zzfshopper.

Yikes I just got this camera a couple of weeks ago for about $450 from Amazon w/ a free 4GB SDHC card.

I had to get it then becasue I have my first baby due any day now.

Great camera! Don't waste your money on the HF10 for this.

what makes the HF10 a waste of money? I was looking at the HF100 and thought it might be better to go for the HF10 or HF11, Is the only difference the internal flash storage ?

HV30 > HV20 > HF11 > HF10 > HV100

HV20 & HV30 are tape-based. Best picture quality, but you've also got tape noise from the motor and you have to do 1:1 imports from MiniDV tape. The HF11 is the newer version of the HF10. It supports full AVCHD (24 MB/sec), while the HF100 only supports 17 MB/sec. The PQ is better on the HF11 and I believe the HF10/HF11 both have more controls than the HF100. HOWEVER, unless you're a film geek you won't be able to tell a difference between those and the HF100. The HF100 is my standard recommendation for a camera to anyone; the HV30 is my recommendation to someone who wants to be a film geek.

So it's not worth it for me to hold out for the HF11? And why do you consider the tape based units better?

Less compression.
