My 5D was at Canon's Factory Service Center in VA, and has been for a month. Apparently part of the building caught fire a couple weeks ago, melting quite a bit of gear and then the sprinklers soaked the rest.

I got a call from Michelle at Customer Relations and she informeed me that Canon would like to upgrade me to a 5DmkII, for free.

My 5D is four years old, quite slow, and absolutely beaten to hell. I've actually fallen on it while running at full speed on pavement. I was not sober. Anyhow, that cam is worth roughly $850 in its current shape. The MK2 is worth $2500-2700. *Words can't describe the amount of smug I am feeling right now.

Canon shipped the cam via UPS 2-day and it was indeed brand spankin new. My god do I love it!

Awesome! I too am jealous. I definitely want to upgrade my 5D to a MKII. So far my best deal is a trade in -that results in about a net delta of $1850. I'm leaning. <LOL>
 
Wow, that sure says some great things about Canon. Instead of just giving you a check for what your old cam was worth, they really treated you well.
