300x300 DPI is typical for a Dye-sublimation. It's not equivalent to an inkjet 300x300. 300dpi for Dye-sublimation is equivalent to around 4800 dpi on an inkjet (says the manufacture).

Nice find OP. The 108ct paper makes it very appealing. $25 for 108 ct = 24 cents a print.

There are no refills for dye sub printers as it doesnt use conventional ink.

Most 4x6 dye sub printers come paper/ink cartridge packs so you buy them together.

Dye-sublimation is equivalent to around 4800 dpi on an inkjet

Not really accurate. Dye sub printers are not as sharp as inkjets but since they are continuous tone you do not see dots. Dye sub is closer to process pictures you get done at the drugstore, but a good inkjet is much sharper.

Also an advantage of dye sub vs inkjet is the picture is water resistant where as inkjet picture gets messed up if you get a drop of water.

thanks for the replies. I went ahead and ordered one. The reviews were somewhat lackluster on this printer though. Either way, seemed like a god deal with the free pack.

Thanks.

I still find dye sub looks the similar or better than a good inkjet. I've got a Sony dyesub myself that I rather like. Its 403dpi for comparison.
