Hello everyone first time posting in this forum :p

any how I bought my SD800 IS within a few weeks of its launch. So its almost 3 years old now I think.

When I take pictures now about 50% of the time the corners will be fuzzy. Like the center of the pic will be clear and the comers all around will be more or less out of focus. The camera gives the Green box saying it is Focused but I fear something has gone wrong.

what do you guys think?

Edit: also this happens in any mode regardless if video recording to picture taking.
Also I have cleaned the lens with a MF cloth so there are no smudges.

Can you post an example? Corners are almost always going to be blurrier than the center of the image. That's optics for you. ;)

And it's "dying" btw;)

if you're taking pictures wide open that can happen. corners are soft even in the best lenses unless you're taking advantage of a lens designed for a larger format. stopping down can help, but i doubt you have control over that in the SD800.

I know pictures will be softer in corners because of the lens w/e but its really bad now. I notice it a lot now even on my cameras screen. It looks like tunnel vision

Next time I take a picture and it happens I wont delete it

Not sure, It just started happening. Most of the time pics are ok, just sometimes the corners and a bit of the side following to the corners will be blurry and a circle in the center is clear.

Ill update on this once I get it to do it again.

Edit: Just moving the camera over head now and taking a random picture of my desk. Its looks like its getting worse o_O

Full size pic

Edit2: hmm I think it might be my lens because I just cleaned it again to make sure its not dirty or anything and now everything is crystal clear again. And I did this before and it fixed being blury. So I think with the little pressure I am putting down on the lens to clean it is putting it into its place and then later on it moves slightly out of place. Ill test again when it gets blurry.

Looks like a lens centering problem. You may have to send it in to get fixed if the problem persists.
