My company has the new canon ScanFront 220 network scanner. Anytime we do a scan to email, all the scan images will come up in the email as ASCII code. We scan to share folder, and usb drive just fine with the unit.

We are using exchange server 2007. We disable antivirus filters and spam filters, and scans still come in as ASCII code. Has anyone come across this problem? know any fixes?

We're having the same problem. We're using Scanfront 220 and Exchange 2007. Emails from the device come in US-ASCII 7bit encoding with the attachments in base64 encoding.

If you find a resolution let me know, Canon support has not been helpful so far.

I was playing around somemore with the scanfront 220 today. One of the guys I work with, gave me the IP address to our POP3/SMTP server and the username and password so that it'll allow me to send email. When I used that server, I am able to send an email to like yahoo, my comcast account and I tried my co-worker gmail account as well. The email came out just fine. The attachment was there, no ASCII code. WHich is awesome but downer is, when we send email to our work email, which are on the exchange 2007 server, we still get them in ASCII code. I dunno if a setting in exchange 2007 or on the scanfront 220 has to be change or what.

cliff notes- sending email from scanfront 220 through our pop3 email to outside email account (comcast, gmail, yahoo) work fine
sending email from the scanfront 220 through our pop3 email server to our company emails on the exchange 2007 server still come in as ASCII code

I spent a good 2 hours on the phone with tech support at Canon. They've told me Exchange 2007 is not officially supported. A patch is expected 1st Quarter 2008.
