its not regional from what I gather. I was able to get one in san jose. my cousin in alabama was able to get one too.

but by now greedy bastards have gone and cleaned stores out and put up on ebay.

Nice deal, but if it was for personal use, you'll be able to do better, trust me.

S500 has a bunch of things going wrong for it; tiny LCD, horrible redeye, compact flash, 10FPS VGA movie mode...

The SD series far outclasses it, and you'll see those on clearance too.

BTW, this deal is B&M only, and it's national. The SKU is listed on an in-store flier.

The SKU is listed below the other Canon camera on the flier.

A good point to note for those not familiar with OfficeMax clearance items. The will have in-store clearance fliers almost every week (the items and the fliers are not available online, only in-store). The REALLY HOT DEALS are never actually listed prominently in the fliers...you have to look for secondary SKUs below the primary deal. For example, they might list the Canon A85 for clearance at $199.99 in their flier, but there will be two SKUs listed right below the deal. One is for the A85, obviously, but the other is for another item...in this case, the S500.

Have them scan it, it should ring up as $199. I got 2 of them on Sunday and my friend got 2. I was able to get one of the display models for $150 for said friend.

I had one on hold in the Martinsburg, WV store ... then the Hagerstown, MD store offered me their display model for $179 (incl. 2yrs warranty)...so if anyone's near Martinsburg, there should be one left g'luck
