*Canon S3 IS* What settings do you guys use?

There's so much stuff you can do with this camera and I'm wondering what settings do you guys use to take pictures?

If there isn't enough light but you have to use the flash, what settings do you use, such as the ISO speed, shutter speed, aperture and such.

Also, what settings you guys think would be the best to take portrait pictures outside and inside of a house behind maybe a white wall?

What's the MF button for next to the Macro button? I know when you push it, its let you zoom in the center of the picture but I'm not sure whats the use for.

If anyone could tell me some tips and suggestions, let me know. Thanks!

As you are learning, just put the camera in P or AUTO mode and it will do the settings for you.

Use the portraiture mode (the head) on your auto settings. If you are shooting with a subject against a white wall, most cameras will underexpose and your subject will look dark. Manually turn the flash on and take the shot, and the flash will fill in the subject.

Manual Focus. Not very useful on a LCD point-n-shoot, but it's still there.

This is an excellent book:
