Checked out the Canon S3 IS and the Sony DSC H5/B at Best Buy this morning. I currently have a Canon S45 am thinking of upgrading. I know Canon makes good cameras, but have not heard too much about Sony. My son has a Sony Digital camera and it seems to provide better color rendition in photos than my Canon. Has anyone had experience with the Sony DSC H series camera's. One drawback is the Sony proprietary memory stick?

I think it is pretty much a toss up between the S3-IS and the DSC-H5. I bought a Canon, and I use the Sony at work. They both take great pictures. I like the Sony because it uses AA batteries, and I like the Canon because it uses CF cards. Sorry if that wasn't much help/

It looks like from most of the reviews the Canon has a slight edge, but will probably keep the Sony.

The Canon S2, S3 use AA batteries also. They have much better battery life also-4 AA vs. 2AA in the Sony. I have used both the Canon S3 and the Sony H5 and the edge goes to Canon, but they are close on image quality. The Canon is way better in the video department.:camera:

Looks like the S3 has ISO800 for better low light exposures where the S2 only goes to ISO400. My wife has been wanting a better digital for concert photos, but I did not want to spend $1,000 for a bulky SLR. The S3 looks like a good fit.
