I have a Canon EOS Elan 7 I picked up over comparable Nikon N bodies. Primarily bought it because of Canon lenses that I can eventually use when i get a Canon digital SLR. Only problem I have with it is it has trouble in low light focusing without AF Flash Assist from my 420EX.

Nikon Fan Boy checking in ..

really ... either setup would be awesome. maybe think a step ahead and figure out if you want a DSLR later on .. which brand would you like to go with.

It is a no brainer.

Canon lenses are faster at focusing than Nikor AF lenses, because it have better motor.
Lenses also interchange with inexpensive & pro Canon digital bodies, and it is also interchange with Canon Pro video cameras.
