I just bought it yesterday at Staples for $200, so I can't exactly write a thorough review. But my quick-hit response is that I'm very happy for the price. The build quality and design is top-notch. I really wanted manual controls, and the range of options there is fantastic, if a little daunting. You'll need to spend a few hours with the docs, trying things out, to get the hang of all the possibilities. Lens is very sharp, even at full zoom. Took a picture of the cat at several feet and magnified until his eye filled the screen, and still see fine detail on the hair. I'm one of those people who always has buyer's remorse -- coulda had this, coulda had that -- but I think I would have had to go $50 to $100 more in the Canon line to step up. (I'm convinced Canon is the way to go in the sub-$500 market.) Good luck.
