EDIT: FORGET about all the SO SO STORES and go with DELL....

I just bought an S400! Got it from DELL HOME for $330 DELIVERED, with the Canon PSC-50 Soft Leather Case included!
You can find the thread on how to do the deal over at Chubby Wallet, I think it's a TODAY ONLY deal...

UPDATE: Well DELL HOME ruined this deal for me. $28 TAX was added for me in CA. Time to cancel my order. People in other states can still get the deal!

"Dell Home Systems collects tax on orders delivered to Texas, Kentucky, Idaho, Nevada, North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Missouri, California and Florida. For shipments to other states, tax relates to the third party service contract only."

Only $335 DELIVERED at buydig.com

Anyone know if this store is reputable?

Maybe this camera can be found for even cheaper?!

Does an extra battery for this really cost $60-$70?!?!

Do the generic batteries hold up well for you?

So $335 is a fair price for this great COMPACT camera, but not a HOT DEAL I take it...?

$335 is a VERY good deal on an S400. You can get a lesser camera for a lesser price.

I got a sterlingtek battery for my S400 and it's been working fine for those emergencies when my OEM battery runs out. It looks like they replaced the contents of an NB-1L (older model S400 battery) with a 950 mAh battery.

do a search on TECHbargins.com

I see the S400 delievered to Seattle, WA for $334.95 from a store with over 2000+ reviews.....

$318 lowest pre shipping.....

so the price of $337.50 is not hot...... and it appears from a mixed reseller ratings....nice....

Of course I wasn't considering the store that has it for 337.50 anymore. Since I found it was 335 at buydig.com, that alot of people seemed to have used before. I'm holding off for now. I want to get it on a HOT DEAL for <300 hopefully. I hear new cameras are coming out this month and the price should continue to drop. Anyone hear anything? I can wait a while to order it, I don't leave for MAUI until March 23rd.

just got the s400 for 367 picked up at bestbuy. Got this with the 10% off and 10 dollar coupon. Did the 12 year no interest financing. IF you are unsure about online ordering, Bestbuy is awesome.

Ecost also has the Ultra II 256mb CF Card for 59.99 plus handling 4.95.

Does anyone know whats the big difference in normal CF cards and Ultra 2 and 12X cards?

That is a great question. Anyone with an S400 try it with different CF cards and notice a speed difference?! I just have standard Kingston and Sandisk 256's for my old HP 2.1 camera.

I can't speak about their online business, but I grew up in the town where this store was located and knew a few people that have had problems with this store.

Someone over on the S400 Yahoo group called up Canon and asked about CF cards. Canon said the S400 does not support Hi-Speed cards, they said to stick with standard CF. CHEAP is GOOD! :)

I saw that they also are planing on releasing the PowerShot S500. 5 Megapixel camera in the same size form factor. Retails for $499, but it looks like a sweet camera.

Every 5 MP camera has had more noise and worse image quality than the 4 MP counterpart. This was true with the G3 vs G5, S45 vs S50. I'd pass on the S500 and grab an S400 while you still can, especially at these great prices.

Is this really true? So I wasted my money on that 40x Lexar?

Over at the FW discussion forum, there was another group of S400 owners talking about it. They also said that the S400 does not support Hi speed CF cards.
$335 is still the cheapest it can be found from a semi-reputable dealer?! I REALLY want one, but would like it closer to $300...;)
