unless there's something I'm missing (I have been studying this camera for a while now, and I think I have decided on it) this is about standard price. There are a few dealers on pricegrabber offering it for within $5 of this price (including shipping). Its appears to be a fantastic camera :)

It's an awesome camera, if you are thinking about it, don't think anymore and get it. It's great, takes awesome pictures and video as well. I recommend www.buydig.com - they are one of the more reputable companies and I got it from them without any hassle. Coupled with $69 256MB CF card from Dell, it kicks ass! :)

I have this camera and it is awesome. Of course I got it for cheaper than this w/ a 32 meg CF card included :D I HIGHLY recommend it, get one of those 128 CF cards from newegg and you can hold a couple hundred pictures on there. Great deal!

This camera is the functional equivelent of my Olympus D-510 Zoom. However, I've always admired the smaller size & sexy metal body of the Digital ELPH. Can anyone who has used both cameras comment on picture quality, speed, features, and recycle time? In other words, is it worthwhile to switch from a D-510 to S300?

i can only compare my s10 to my olympus 460 or friend's 3000z(or whichever is the box bodied one with the dark grey metal finish--sorry :p)
the s10 comes out a little better on pic quality but, the olympus has better battery life afaict
i would check out cnet or epinions or imaging-resouce forums for user comments
good luck

I've been eyeing this camera too... I'm still deciding whether to get it now or wait for a better deal:

Buy at www.photoalley.com for $449.95 (REMEMBER TO GO THROUGH MSN PASSPORT) + TAX + S/H

$449.95

- $50 AMEX Pricematch
- $80 MSN Passport

= ~$330ish

I havn't tried this, but it should work!

isn't there a pretty short maximum you can record videos with on this thing? like 10 second limit on high res videos?

that's the only thing that would bug me i think, it's a little larger than the s110 but also has a 3x zoom

If you want a cheaper deal on a 2.1MP 3x zoom digicam, you might look at this thread
Konica thread

That one is approximately the same size as the S300, but several oz lighter.

I have had the s300 for about 6 months now, and I fully recommend it to anyone who may be considering. It takes great pictures, especially outdoors, and the quality of the metal-construction is top notch. Perhaps the best thing is the tiny size, which makes it less of a burden to carry around - just stick it in your coat pocket. As the saying goes, cameras that stay in a drawer don't take good pictures. Get an extra battery and the Canon PSC300 case as well. Highly recommended.
