Canon Powershot S200 Battery Life

For anyone who owns one, how long does your battery last? Is there a real need to get a second?

For me it seems to last as long as I've needed it to but I haven't gone out and done any marathon-type sessions yet. I did buy an extra battery anyway, however, since when it dies you can't just run to the store and get some AA's.

It seems to last a couple of days if you're really using it. I got a second battery by purchasing one of the case kits. (comes with 2 cases and a battery: One big case, and one small case)

If you look online, you'll save a lot by purchasing an off-brand battery. I found one for $13.50 rather than the $40 that amazon.com and the rest charge.

I have 2, the 840mAh one that came with my camera and a 680mAh one that my dad gave me since he had extras for his camera. If I shoot about 100-150 per day at the highest setting, using LCD all the time, flash maybe for 10% of the shots, and taking some time to set up the shot or review it. I find that with the battery that came with the camera I can just barely get by for a day. When I know I need to conserve power I just turn off the lcd and then it seems to last forever. But yeah, an extra battery is a good idea.

it's cheaper to buy the generics for like 5 bucks each on ebay..

and combine them together for shipping.

last time i saw them was for 4.95 + shipping for the NB-1L equivalent which gives decent juice to keep the camera running.
Probably 2 of those should be enough to use a 512mb CF card.

Assuming you're referring to the one sold at CC, is that kit worth the $50ish it retails for? I don't really want a large case, just a small form-fitting one for the ELPH. I guess aftermarket would be fine, but if that's a high quality kit, I wouldn't mind going for OEM battery + case.

Based on what isekii just wrote, I guess $5/batt. + S/H is much more cost effective.

but this guy allows you to combine shipping I think each additional item is a dollar

Try $20 for TWO batteries (including S/H)...
