Only buy it if you absolutely need something this small and compact (trust me it is small - I have one at home). However if you want a better "bang for your buck" digicam which is actually comfortable to hold and use then get the Canon PowerShot A40 for around $190 after coupon & PM from OfficeMax.com

Hmm...I forgot which combinations of coupons I used last week, but I got the S200 shipped from Dell Home for like $271. I think it may have been a 15% off coupon stacked with something else?

The A400 is bigger (more comfortable to some), uses regarchable AA batteries (I think) instead of the expensive rechargble lithium ion you have to buy, and is cheaper. That said, it is also heavier, bigger (not as cool/compact looking), etc. Its a matter of preference I guess, I liek the s200.

I would take the S200 over the A40...reasons being
1) Size
2) S200 comes with rechargeable battery

The A40 does have better optical and digital zoom, however, but to me the benefits I pointed out above outweigh the better zoom on the A40.

You should know that the successor to the S200 has been preannounced by Canon. Apparently they put out a press release too early as a mistake and then pulled it. In any case, a 3MP successor to the S200 should be out within a month or two. I am kind of pissed because I just bought my S200 a couple months ago :(.

It's all a matter of personal preference esp when it comes to form factor.

Do you want ultra compact (S200) or a compact size which fits well in your hand (A40) without being overly bulky and cheaper?

The S200 is a great camera but I just happen to like the A40 better.

I also like that the A40 accepts regular AA batteries so I can pop in my rechargeable AA's and it's cheaper than the S200.

Well you're excused then but I know that Kenji4861 is here quite frequently.

Besides that's what credit cards are for ;)

$ more days before the deal runs out. Dun think A40 is offered but if it is, you should get it. It's a much cheaper camera but the size and battery is qutie a problem for me...
