10x Optical 38-380mm Zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer will be the selling point with this camera 🙂.

I'm glad to see others getting into the High/Zoom Stabilizer act. After waiting a long time for the Panasonic FZ10 w/4MP, I think this is a much better alternative and at a $500 pricepoint should figure well into the picture 😛

Thanks for link,only thing that I don`t like is no AF assist lamp on the S1 and low LCD viewfinder resolution of only 114,000 pixels,most LCD viewfinder cameras now have 180,000 or even 235,000 pixels.

I can`t wait for a full review on the S1.

What I find really strange are the reports of no AF assist lamp ...
Why would Canon do such a thing?

And if you take a look at this pic, the little grey circle above the Powershot text looks awful lot like my A70's AF assist lamp.

yea my bud has the Panasonic 1.2MP and with the Zoom it barely sucks 😉

I hope so as well,3MP is ok,you can get very good 10"x8" prints on superfine mode,especially with Canon lens quality.

10x optical zoom cameras are becoming very popular, Canon will very shortly(April I read) have a model in that market which`s about time.
