may want to consider the olympus d-370 from officemax(link)... 1.3mp, no optical zoom, but still takes decent pictures... reduced to $150, $25 off $100 coupon available at tech bargains, total $125.

<< i saw that.. i wonder how important is optical zoom? >>

I'd say it's very important, before you do anything please read this review.

IMHO optical zoom is more important then the number of mp a camera has. Most of my shots are fairly long distance so I don't die, and in order for them to come out on a higher camera with less then a 10x optical zoom would mean lots of digital enlarging, so that lowers your mp right there

Digital zoom are useless, you can do better in Photoshop by cropping then enlarging with bicubic interpolation. That A10 has a 3x optical zoom, even the 4MP Kodaks only have a 2X optical. BUY THE A10

Edit: Also the Canon takes compact flash. They are sturdier and not prone to fingerprint problems like smartmedia in the Olympus. Also CF has the controller on the card, for SM the controller is in the camera. That is why CF cameras don't have limits on card sizes. SM cameras have limits since they can only store SM cards that are currently out.

nice price, but it's pretty much the clearance price since the a30/40 are replacing the a10/20. not sure how much longer till the ebayer's realize this ;) Otherwise, if it's for yourself, definately nice. I don't think you can get any other digicam@1.3MP w/ a 3x optical for $200...
