canon multipass f50 help!!

i am running windows xp sp2 and trying to install this printer, it is pluged in via a parelell to usb cable. the installer for some reason does not recognize the printer, i have a BIOSTAR TForceP965 and built my own computer. i'm thinkig maybe the plug n play drivers have not ben installed? any ideas what my problem could be? maybe the printer just cant work wiht usb. thanks.

For what its worth, you probably can't get free Canon phone support, but Canon does offer free e-mail support---which might answer your question. I assume you have no parallel port.
