Hey folks,

Well, I finally broke down and bought a new printer to replace my iP3000 (the Gray Ghost). I was paying my biweekly visit to the nearest Staples and it happened they had gotten the iP4300 back in stock since my previous round and I got to play with the floor sample for a bit. I think it had me at the point that the silicone damped output paper catcher door glided down like a feather - no more slamming down when it slips from my hand. I decided to slide my patronage in CV's direction this time (IDK how the Egg/CV can sell 'em for $75. + shipping - $75. is basically the retail price for the 5 ink tanks - I guess they are expecting to make a ton off of their excessive shipping along with the tasty markup on the new OEM tanks...).
. So I've cleaned up the iP3000 nicely and posted a 'For Sale' sign on it. It'll be a sad day when I have pack her up and send her down the road to warmer climes.
. Today I received my first shipment of clone ink for the iP4300 from SwiftInk (Inkseller to the Stars of the AT forums c'est moi ;) - I snuck in under the Nov. 13th deadline for his last sale ), and it turns out that Aziz is selling the G&G tanks for the new Pixmas. I hope they are at least as good as the ones he's been selling for the older Canons - I've not heard much bad about the G&G for the older models. Unfortunately it will be several months before I find out as those darn Canon tanks seem to last forever. I guess I'll have to comparison shop the Ethernet Mall to see if Aziz is competitive on his pricing...

Hope this didn't bore you all too much.

Update: It'll be here today! Left Edison NJ at 4:35pm yesterday, was put on the truck for delivery at 7:49 this morning, and will probably be here around noon or so - man those UPS guys really shake their tails for the Egg!

Update: Arrived just before noon. Happy, happy - joy, joy! :D

First impression: chintzier plastic, harsher noises from paper feed mechanism (probably issuing from same), beautiful output. And no free paper sample... But I guess they had to cut somewhere as you're basically getting an iP5000 for half the money. I like the darker color. I don't know why they couldn't keep the top corner power switch - that was cool but probably too expensive. :( .bh.

Here are some recent selling prices on eBay for new iP4000: 197.50, 167.58, 180.00, 197.50, 222.50 (on Nov. 3, 2006) - and now for the iP5000 (though they almost never appear on ebay any more): 200.00, 229.00, 172.50, 229.99 and several at $160.00 buy it now. You almost always get the higher prices if it goes to auctiion. That guy that sold a batch of NIB at $160. sold very cheap IMO.
. Mine is up to what I payed for it (a bit over 2 years ago) with three days to go - I had a B-I-N on it of $100.00 but now that it's on auction, it could go higher. You wouldn't believe what some NIB 3000s have gone for...
