Canon i850s printer (rebadged i850 including a USB cable) at Sams Club for $138.xx Instant price - no rebates.

It was $148.xx when I bought it a couple of months back - thanks to a previous post here at Anandtech. Specials at BB have been around $165, although there was a $30 rebate around that time.

Because its an i850s (not i850) it wasn't eligible for the Canon rebate, but $138 is good anyway. They're also selling a set of 3 color cartridges + 2 blacks for around $48.

Edited: added "printer" in the title so its clear.

I just saw this 2 days ago and was wondering what the s was for. Now I just need to scrounge up the cash to buy one.

I also wondered about the "s" designation. So, I emailed Canon who replied to say that the "s" indicates the inclusion in the box of a USB cable, whereas 850 non-s boxes in retail stores or perhaps online stores do not have the cable included. I also purchased one of these about 3 months ago for $148 AR with free shipping and have already received my rebate check. So, $138 is a good deal that includes the nice cable. Also, I think that this is a USB 2.0 printer, although it is questionable if there would be much difference in actual printing speed between 2.0 vs 1.1 (YMMV).

BTW, you guys know that you can peel off that paper "i850s" lable to reveal the real engraved/etched i850 logo underneath.

If you're undertain, just rub/press your finger over the label and you'll feel it.

Dell seems to have it for $169 - 15% + Free shipping. Comes out to ~$143 for me. (No USB cable with it though)

This, to me is a great deal. I bought this printer @ BB right after Xmas. The mgr. allowed me to use a $30 off $150 Staples coupon (pretty cool) which brought it down to$139.99. I did a lot of homework on printers $200 or less. The reviews said this is the best "all around" printer for both photo's & text. In addition, it's fast & cost effective to use.Four ink tanks about $11-$12 each. My Hp ink cartridges (only 2) are about $30 bucks a pop. Read the reviews on this printer. There are newer better, slower & older printers that are also good; however for the VALUE, this one is hard to beat (if at all) for $139.99. I've been in office stores a few times where I've overheard the CSR helping the customer select a printer cable. Sometimes they ended up paying $30-$50 just for the cable. Not so with this Sam's club deal. Nice post, thanks kayaksurfer.

Lol

What he said.

Got this printer for xmas and am so happy with it.

In case you think you might be able to scam the rebate, you can't. We tried (figure worth the 37 cents) and cannon wrote back saying the i850s was not eligible.
