Canon digital camera users ... do you use the CHDK utility on your camera?

I REALLY want to get back into time-lapse photograpy. I like the idea of being able to take video of events that happen over a long period of time. My search for a camera that would allow me to do time-lapse has been relatively fruitless, with most cameras being in what I would call the "expensive" range (ie $500+).

Just recently I (literally) stumbled across a wiki for the Canon Hacker's Development Kit (CHDK) that "unlocks" many features of the camera ... including time-lapse:

and ...

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

I was wondering if anyone here has loaded the kit on their Canon camera and if they had any good or bad experiences to share.

A recommendation of a camera to buy for this purpose would be great as well.

Thanks ...

If I had a Canon P&S I certainly would, especially with something like the SX30is. It's a little less useful in relation to the S9x and G-series, since they already do RAW and a few other advanced features.

I use it on my SX30. Love it.

Used it last summer on my SX10, to get pics of hummingbirds at the feeder.

Not sure what the battery life will be like on the 30, but I had the 10 on and snapping a new pic every four seconds for about four hours before the batteries died.

Used it on my SX120, it made the camera worth a lot more than it originally was worth. RAW and HDR plus you can customize the screen layout.

That may explain why I cannot find a good deal on one of the cameras listed on the Wiki.

Also, I find it intersting that the SX120 is supported as it is not on the listed of cameras that supports it (the SX10 and 30 are).
