Has anyone shopped at Canon.com and their refurbished camera and lenses? Are these a good deal and reliable. You'd think they would be cxoming from Canon, but just wanting to hear from people who buy from here.

I didn't know Canon even sold refurb lenses. I don't doubt they are high quality refurbs, but the prices only seem somewhat cheaper than their new counterparts shipped. In fact, sometimes it's even more expensive (for example, the 18-55mm IS lens is $159 refurb, but only $155 new at J&R). Not to mention, the refurbs only come with 90-day warranty while the new lenses come with a full year warranty. The refurb selection is limited to the lower-end lenses as well.

If you're looking to get used lenses at a low price, consider buying used from Photography-On-The.Net and FredMiranda.com forums. They selection is much better and most of the users are trustworthy. Definitely ask for samples though. You can also check Craigslist. If you don't trust other users, check out B&H, Adorama, KEH, etc. used lens selection.
