Canon bubble jet printer wont print

My Canon BJC4300 will not print anymore. Well, it 'prints' (print head moves back and forth), but there is no ink on the paper. I've replaced both the color and black cartridges, reinstalled printer drivers, printer from different programs, printed from DOS, and performed several print head cleanings, but nothing helped.

Had the EXACT same problem with my 4300. After running diagnostics with Canon tech support on the phone, determined the cartridge printhead was bad (electrical problem). Replaced the entire cartridge, and everything has been fine for six months or so. Was able to reuse the ink tanks from the bad cartridge, so not everything was lost.

This seems to me to be a common problem with Canon printers. I have had 3 of them 4000 4100 4400 and every one of them had the same problem. the 4400 only worked for 3 weeks before the cart. went bad, I could not get Canon to replace it, replaced it for $50.00. I am going to stay away from Canon, I would not have bought the 4400 but had over $100.00 worth of ink tanks to use up

I had the same problem with my BJC-4200 a while back. Had to replace the entire print head system. I only use HP printers now. All of those come with a printhead built into the ink-tank, and the output seems much better as well (not to mention that the design of the HP printers are much more compact).
