Canon about to release a 21 Mp DSLR

Not a 1D, but a 1Ds - about twice the cost of a 1D.It can probably be had on the street for $6500 (body only!) 🙂

I went back and read it all properly in the interim, my memory clearly isn't what it was...

However, I don't think it's quite such an equivocal 'surpasses' as you seem to be suggesting, once you get beyond pure resolution issues, and neither does mr rockwell...which isn't what we were really talking about initially anyway...😱

Someone needs to hack the firmware of Canon DSLRs and also find a way to overclock these DiGiC processors for mad fps pwnage.

i have to wonder how nikon's Q89 (D3) will stack up in 3 days? (though D3 appears to be more of a 1D competitor, it'll be the top of the line nikon for a while)


and canon has a gap in their lineup that you could drive a tank through.

What gap is that?

1Ds - all out maximum image quality, weathersealed - professional travel or studio photographer
1D - excellent image quality and extremely fast shooting speed, weathersealed - sports/wildlife shooter
X0D - midrange SLR - shooting speed, operation, and build quality between 1D and XX0D
XX0D - entry level SLR

Seems a pretty well-rounded lineup to me.
