Cannot use native res (1920x1200) in games with HD4870 and 24" screen

I bought an HD4870 and a an LG W2452T (24") and while it works fine in Windows at 1920x1200 and also in quake 3 (I set the resolution in the cfg file), games won't show me the option to run at 1920x1200. The screen is hookep up with a vga cable, but that shouldn't be the problem. I updated my drivers to the latest WHQL. I also installed the monitor's profile and Catalyst correctly reports 1920x1200 as the highest resolution. Windows show up to 2048x1536. Anybody knows what the problem could be?

What games?
Not all games support the higher resolutions.

Ooo, I love that monitor as I also have it. And elmer is right, not all games support higher resolutions especially the older games.

This isn't really a solution to your problem but I might suggest you use the DVI connection for better image quality.

Pretty much all games have this problem: Call of duty 4, crysis warhead, quake 4, WOW.

actually it might be a solution .. try it!!

i DO have one game that sometimes will only go up to 16x12 instead of 19x12; that one is Crysis and i just edit the configuration file instead of reinstalling it
