Cannot see workgroup computers at all

I think that if I can get this one computer to see the workgroup it would work.Internet works fine.

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.

Vista File and Printer Sharing- http://technet.microsoft.com/e.../library/bb727037.aspx

Windows XP File Sharing - http://support.microsoft.com/d...x?scid=kb;en-us;304040

Thanks for trying to help.
I cannot figure this out.I use to have network magic installed on this computer if that makes a difference. It is uninstalled right now.
I am running Kapersky internet security 7 on that computer and the firewall is set to allow all.
I tried the NetBEUI install but it doesn't work.
It cannot even see it's own shared folders when I go to My Network Places nor can it see itself in View Network Computers(normally it would at least show the shared folders but it doesn't).
Thanks.

Dont use Network Neighborhood, it doesnt work all the time.

Best, easiest thing to do is make a shortcut to the shared folder on the other

What happens when you do Start>Run and type in \\OtherPcIpAddress\ShareNamem ? (ie \\OtherPC\Music )

If you cant connect to the other PC by IP address, you have a larger problem than just sharing folders.

Did you go over all the links JackMDS provided?

Do you get a ping reply back when you try to ping the other PC's IP addy?

Did you just install XP SP3 on one of the computers? I'm not 100% sure but I just started having problems sharing folders on my home network. Up until recently I haven't had issues and I changed nothing...except I've installed SP3 on my office computer.

Both computers are running XP and I ran the Home Network Wizard on both. I just can't get them to see eachother. I am going to try to install SP3 on the laptop and see if that does it.

Anyone else? I don't get why both computers would have zero issues connecting to the wireless router but can't see eachother.

yes I think SP3 was recently installed
The wireless router is able to see them fine, when network magic was installed it could see the other computer in NWM but not in My Network Places.
print and file sharing is enabled
I have them going through a dlink dir-655 router

"could see the other computer in NWM but not in My Network Places. "

again, dont use Network Neighborhood/places, it doesnt always work right.

If you have a share successfully setup on a PC (ie with the correct username/password) then from any other PC you should be able to go to Start>Run and type in \\OtherPCIPAddress\SharedItemName and have it open the shared item, that can be a folder, printer, etc

Having the router see the PC's isnt doing anything, since the router is whats giving the PC's the IP address, of course its going to see them.

Whats the shared item name you have setup on one of the PC's ?

"could see the other computer in NWM but not in My Network Places. "That was when Network magic was installed I no longer have it installed.I have tried reinstalling it but that doesn't work. When installed it shows the computer's connection to the router and looks like everything is working right but it isin't.
The computer cannot even see itself or it's shared folders
I will check into the other and let you know how it goes in the morning
