Cannot see jpg images in a shared folder

I have an ethernet wired LAN between computers running Windows XP. On one of the machines I have a shared folder with JPG images in it. Up until today if I went to My Network Places and clicked on the shared folder, the files in it showed with thumbnails. This morning the folder still shows as shared but when I click on it it reports nothing to preview. Other folders with images are viewable, but I cannot see the images in this one folder. The problem cannot be systemic since JPG images in other folder preview with thumbnails and can be transferred or viewed. This folder seems to open OK on the remote machine but as I said reports nothing to preview.

Beats me. Any ideas?

Thanks

PS
As Alice said, this just gets weirder and weirder. I created a new shared folder and copied the jpg images in the old folder to the new one. The images in the new folder can be seen on the other machine. In other words I have the same thumbnail presentation I am used to and can open any image without problem.

Thanks for the reply. I mentioned in my post that all of my machines are running Windows XP. What I didn't say is that all have SP2 installed -- not SP3 whose problems I don't wish to buy into.

The folders on the one machine are shared with no limitations to all machines on the LAN. Just checked by removing the sharing on the suspect folder and then going to sharing and security and set it for unlimited sharing. Same problem.

At this point it is a matter of intellectual curiosity since I have copied to a new folder the images I wished to share and am OK. I just don't like to have unexplained things going on in my computers.
