Disconnect all but one drive, and the cdrom.
I see that board has onboard RAID; is the installation drive attached to one of the RAID connectors, or a normal ide one?
If it is connected to the RAID connector, I'm pretty sure you'll need drivers to install .
When you first start a windows install, you'll see something like "press f6 to install scsi/raid driver" or something similar. it doesnt display long, so watch for it.
Boot HDD is connected to the Red IDE connector, (Primary Master, on the "normal" IDE controller
I am not overclocking, and the Integrated RAID is set to function as standard EIDE. I have four master drives, one is in a cage, so I can swap the 20.0 WD Win98 Protools, and the 20.4 Seagate Windows XP. Teac 12x10x32 burner in secondary channel, and WD120 and Zip 100 on the two "Not RAID" ports.
I will start memtest in a little while... (I opted not to get a floppy drive with my laptop...)
<edit> Overheating? not that I can tell. Stock P4 cooler, (Retail chip) temps read 36 and 23 in C ATM in the Bios </edit>

Ok, I tried that memtest thing. It froze at 11% and now the thing won't even POST. Should I see if I can get a warranty replacement on the Memory?
you didn't run memtest in Windows did you..? If ran in dos and locked up at 11% ..I'd test the ram in another setup...if causes grief..then RMA..if it doesn't.......well......🙁YO spanky ! 😀
no, I can't get the thing into windows, but, on the other hand, I don't have another Rambus motherboard either.
Local screwdriver shop will not install an OS unless they see a license certificate, so I am going to take the copy of win2000 server 120 day eval in and have them install that before I take it home again, to make sure it's working.
