it started last night, while playing a game the system froze, so i rebooted and now i cannot get the system to post period.

I had :

AMD 2500xp processor,
A7V8X motherboard
Ati 9500pro

The problem is, when trying to start it, the fans would whirle and that was all. There was no Beeps.

Since then, today i have went out and bought a new 939 motherboard and an a64 3000 along with a new 500w antec psu.

I still have exactly the same problems. I have tried using an old radon (pci slot) card and it still remains the same. (i know the pci card is working, im typing on it now)

I have 2 sticks of kingston value ram i tried playing with putting only one of each in incase one of them is the culprit.

I have also tryied carefully placing the mobo over the anti-static bag in came in incase my case was somehow creating a short.

Any ideas as to what i could do? ive pretty much replaced every part by now and it still wont post or even do a beep code. if its the ram, its both sticks that are bad.

Try swapping out the PSU for a known-good unit. Try removing all PCI cards and I/O devices and see if the system will POST with only the video card and RAM installed. Try booting with one stick of RAM installed (if you have multiple), and/or swap this RAM out for known-good sticks. Try replacing your motherboard battery. Please post your results back to this thread.:D

OP Edited with more info:

Try removing/disconnecting all PCI devices, your video card, all RAM, and all I/O devices. Boot and see if you get RAM/Video Card Mising error beeps. If not, suspect an undetected electical short, or an undiscovered power issue. If you hear the error beeps, add back your RAM and Video Card and reboot - if the original problem (no beeps) persists, suspect bad RAM and/or Video Card.

Please post all results back to this thread.

both the previous psu and its replacement are Antecs, Tru 380w and 500w respectivly.
so they are quality psus, and i very much doubt both are the issues.

Theoritically if absolutly everything except the psu was attached to the mobo would it give beep codes?

It dosnt but i changed the cpu and mobo for brand new ones.

If you have everything "except the PSU" attached to the mobo, how can you test the MB without power? :)

If there is a faulty or malfunctioning device (RAM, CPU, PSU, PCI Card, AGP/PCIe Card...) attached to the MB, then the board MAY NOT give you an error beep at boot. Solving this problem should be your first priority. You should try a combination of replacing/removing components until you are able to get either POST or error beeps.

UPDATE:

i am an asshat ;)

the sound led thingy was placed 1 pin out of place, so it would of been beeping but i wouldnt of heard it and moniter was not being used. it indeed looks like it was the old mobo and or cpu.

Thanks!
