my brother sent me this video file, which was taken from a DV. he claims to have just used a standard codec for the video, nothing special or downloaded. however i cannot play it on my computer, i hear the sound but it cannot download an appropriate decompressor for the video. any ideas what this could be?

i have the standard codecs as well as xvid, divx etc. tried downloading a bunch yesterday and none worked.

anyone help? i also have the latest media player (9) and have also tried it on older versions of media player.

i don't think its super compressed as its only a 7 minute video and is over 200 MB big!

thanks

Maybe its DV? I think you can play them back using quicktime IIRC.
