Cannot ping desktop from wireless laptop

Hi, My setup is the following: 1 Desktop (192.168.1.104) (wired) 1 laptop (192.168.1.103) (hooked up through wireless) cable modem linksys WRT54G router my desktop can ping my laptop but the laptop cannot ping the desktop. The laptop can surf the net and ping the router. i'm really at a loss because i don't have firewalls installed on either computer. My end goal is to share files with the setup however just getting a ping response would be nice. Any ideas?

deatails on the laptops (OS etc)

also, if you are using custom firmware on the linksys, make sure to turn off AP isolation

Laptop is running window xp pro (dell Latitude d620)
Desktop is running xp as well
my rig is pretty much as scribed in my sig.

The router is not hacked in any way pure factory.
