Nah, I'm pretty sure I got the right one, labelled 1004basic (or the like) from the Asus site. Although, I run fine at 220... just didn't wanna try anything higher before somethin got screwed up again. :p

And yeah, if I recall correctly, I think I did already try 233, but to no avail. What gives? :(

Gza, that can not be the case. Check this out: K8V SE DELUXE BIOS

Standard K8V Deluxe

Is it possible you have the SE Deluxe version of the board then???

I'm done at 215, board seems stable so far, my 6800GT is running at Ultra, my Corsair is humming along at 2 2 2 5 :) I don't need to take any more chances, would hate to have another data corruption issue.

Well, it could be a combination of so many things like your memory timings, voltages, who knows :)

Nope, just plain-jane basic - http://www.asus.com/support/do...me=K8V&Type=Latest

As for RAM timings, I tried loosening them each by 1. I'm running on 2.5 CAS Samsung's, PC-3200.

Voltages on the other hand I've tried upping within reason (RAM at 2.8, CPU at +0.2, but I could've sworn I saw more available adjustments, gonna check back sooner or later).

I do not know. I would assume so, but then again, it's not MY data. =) Even if it was, I have multiple levels of of backups now.

Ok, now I am stumped. Have been running very stable for the longest time @ 210*11, 2310.. Bumped my bus to 215. Windows seems stable, benchmarks run. I started benchmarking using some common programs such as 3dmark and Aquamark- Noticed a 7k loss in Aquamark, 3dmark went from 12,500 to 10,500.. I then lowered back to 210 and boom, back to 68k in aquamark and 12,500 in 3dmark.. How can a seemingly stable overclock result in such a drop in performance??? Is it possible? I rebooted several times and used the exact same settings, and every result was lower @ 215??

NOTE: I did not mess around with any other BIOS setting except for the bus speed increase, no higher timings, no memory ratio changes, ect..

1.65volts on air is that your recommendation just for the A64's?

Now that I think about it I don't see many guys running the A64 on high voltages like I see with the mobiles. I'm fine with 1.70-1.75volts long term on air with a good cooler for my mobile Athlon.

Concillian, very nice detailed explanation on overclocking and all the little details one needs to know for a sucessful oc. "Truely Sticky Worthy"

yeah, definitely agreeing with this, that could pose a problem for most people.

I updated my bios to 1.004 (standard k8v). Then I bumped the fsb up to 234. I kept everything else on auto including memory ratio, memory timings, and I kept standard voltages. I figured that with the increased fsb, the bios would automatically set all the other things to match the increased fsb. Is this wrong?

Anyways when I tried to boot with the fsb at 234, windows never booted. It gave me a message that said something along the lines of Please insert bootable media and reset. Is this common for improper overclocking?

EDIT: I just read elsewhere on this forum that SATA drives sometimes are not read when overclocking. My primary drive is SATA...does this sound like the problem?

You may have to buy a board with a lock. The Soltek nforce250gb board does well with SATA and overclocking. They had it up to 250 fsb and it still worked.

So the problem is that the pci/agp is gettin overclocked? I thought the K8V board had the automatic multiplier so that pci/agp speeds were able to maintain safe frequencies.

It automatically adjusts the divider... but only at 233 and 266. So at 232 you are still running ~38-39PCI and nearly 80AGP. Which is very bad.

Strange though, as he was running at 234, yet had that problem still. I'm beginning to think that maybe we don't have any dividers even. :(

That would suck. Well I don't know what the deal is. I guess I'll hold off overclocking until I figure this mumbo jumbo out. If any of ya have an amd64 cpu and k8v motherboard, I'd like to here your overclocking story.
