just bought mobo and Duron 700, I closed the L1 bridge but I still cannot adjust multiplier :-(
adjusting FSB work fine, but I need to adjust multiplier to make this Duron @ 133 FSB !!!!

Any idea? is it the mobo problem, like BIOS (I use the last BIOS Q6) or finally AMD locking multiplier???

HEEELLLLLPPPP !!!!

Sound,
how you like board i ordered same one a week ago. I'm just waiting for my TBird to come in. To answer your question you probably didn't connect l1 bridges all the way, which everyone is going to tell you. But I have a better solution and that is you don't have to connect l1 bridge because of the speed of your cpu. A duron 700 will overclock easy with FSB. Just put jumper on 133 and enjoy. 7 X 133 is only 933, which is easily attained. I hope you know you have to set your dip switches to control multiplier. I forget if you said that in your message. Anyways good luck dont forget to tell me how you like your board. The software bonus is way cool.

Well I wish it could run @ 7 x 133, I had bad CPU I believe, couldn't even pass BIOS for 933 MHz even @ 1.85 volt, so I believe I have to run it @ 133 x 6 or 6.5
I don't think this is heat issue, I use Coolermaster heatsink, certified for 1.2 GHz thunderbird and I even use Mitsubishi fan which is comparable to Delta, its 0.22 ampere and yes its loud as hell.

I am pretty sure I closed the L1 eventough only with pencil, but I think I am going to solder the bridge, 'cos I am desperate......

I like this board so far, especially for the price :) its hell cheap compare to ABIT and I still need ISA slot thats why I don't buy MSI, usually I always big fan of MSI.

The board seems stable so far, I use it for anything, gaming, and most likely to audio editing and CD writing.
One thing I don't like about the board is the connector, they use cheap connector to cut cost (thats why is cheap) just like Abit, if you look at MSI they use foxconn and AMP connector which is one of the best connector.

And I just know from people at SOYO, all the SOLTEK engineer use to work at Soyo, no wonder they came out with good mobo now.

Finally worked, I found one jumper close to the dip switch label as J17, there is no explaination in the manual about this jumper. I move the jumper and work, just like that, damn, why there not mention anything about this jumper in the manual???

And now I run this Duron 133x6 (800)at default voltage, i could get to 866 but needs more voltage but if i raised tht voltage my windows me didn't work, goes into windows and then black screen, I believe there is bug with Q6 BIOS, cos if I change the voltage from default windows didn't like it.

Well at least I am happier now since I want to run this duron @ 133 FSB !!!

Sound,
great 6 X 133 is better then 8 X 100. How did you close your L1 bridges and you say you got your MB cheap where did you buy it from? There is also a manuel at solteks web site you can download in .pdf format that will be alot more extensive. Anyway good luck, keep seeing if you can O/C it higher. Maybe try a less aggressive memory setting to get it higher.

You are lucky some of those boards sold without that jumper. Probably by accident.

I got this mobo directly from their distributor here in my country, I live somewhere in Asia. I work for an IT company thats why I got it cheap, this mobo is the cheapest KT133A around here.

I am not going for odd FSB because my CD Writer doesn't like odd FSB, but for sure 933 is out of question, 866 is the highest I could go.

Just download the manual from soltek, yes there is jumper 17 in the board layout, but still didn't mention anything about this jumper, BTW you should set it 1-2 instead the default 2-3.

You got me :) I totally forgot about Indonasia. Yea I know where Indonasia is I have a B.S. in economics so I know alittle bit about the Pacific Rim Country's. So how is Indonasia, they getting back to being a stable country ecomically and politically? Is the new president good for Indonasia?

I live north of Los Angeles, Antelope Valley (Palmdale - Lancaster) Its right near Edwards Air Force Base. I was born in Sana Rosa near San Francisco.

It took me a while to figure out the J17 jumper as well.

I just put the motherboard first in my case and started setting the system up. Of course, I did not see the jumper, and the manual does not have any mention of it. I started getting really pissed off as I was only getting the default multiplier of 11x regardless of what I tried. I finally took the board out to put my old MSI back in.

Then, while I was setting all the dip switches back to default setting before putting it back in the box, I saw the jumper right next to the dip switches. I change the jumper, set the dip switches to 100Mhz FSB and 7x, and put the board back in the system. When I saw my 1.1G T-bird posting 700Mhz, I almost started crying.

My T-biard is now running happily at 1251Mhz (139Mhz x 9), and the board seems as stable as MSI K7T Pro2A which it replaced.

I got the Soltek very cheap ($120 including 5% sales tax in Japan) when I was traveling to Tokyo last week.

I could go up to 140Mhz (with three DIMM slots filled) but crashed a couple of times. My memory sticks are not very good, so I pretty much think that they are being bottlenecks.

Racnmasn,

My SDRAMs are normal PC133 CAS2 7.5ns. Two sticks are of Toshiba and another of Nanya.

soundsation,

You bought it in Indonesia, right? Well, these companies have to make some money somewhere. They do that in Japan and of course in the US.

Hi, true the company need to make money somewhere, but the real reason I had that cheap cos my company selling many hardware including this mobo, I've got it sameday when the board arrive from Taiwan.
But for $149.99 is to much I think. We sell it to customer for $ 116, and of course cheaper for me

BTW I could only go 143 FSB with this mobo, might be RAM is the issue.

I read from www.ocworkbench.com the rumours about week 50 chipset is not true, they tested some board with the latest week and get the same result with older week.

Anand saying 133Mhz does not work with only 1 DIMM slot is not true either.

Hi just an update for win2k user like me

link

this is hotfix from MS for ata 100 win2k, I had problem with win2k and going to try this patch soon.

If you use 4.28 via driver the harddrive always corrupt and cannot boot to win2k if you use older one the harddrive so sloooow, slower than PIO mode.

I still haven't checked my board for the famous JP17 jumper, but I'm running at 133 MHz FSB now, and have been for more than a week, no instabilities whatsoever ;)

For you guys that are having stability issues with multiple dimms occupied and O/Cing try setting,
=Dram timing by SPD=disabled
=Dram drive strength=Form Auto to manual
=Dram drive value=4F
this worked for me, my 650 is ticking away quite merily at 866, 6.5*133 and I have had 7*133=931 at default voltage but dropped down to 866 till I get more fans
