Cannot install, you need directx 9.0c before installing-I have its installed dammit!

I don't understand it. I tried to install the Need for Speed Most Wanted Demo and it gave me this message and quits the installation. I have it installed, dxdiag says it is. I even tried reistalling(directx 9c) it but it skips the installing and goes to installation completed.
So I tried to install teh retail game and it gave me teh same message. Went to microsoft there is nothing about it besides saying once 9.0c is installed, it can't be removed or reinstalled without a restore which I don't have.

Has anyone else had this problem? I just wanna play my games.
Here is my dxdiag info if it helps. I took out the things I thought didn't matter, but I guess its still long.

It said it won't work with my version of windows. I'm sure there are other programs right?

You have Directx 9.0c installed. The problem is probably with the game. Have you checked their website for a FAQ?

Do you have the latest video drivers installed for your card?

If you've installed ANY games in the past year you've probably had DirectX 9.0c installed for some time. It's been required for most games for at least a year.

If you're certain it was recently installed you could use System Restore to go back before you installed it.

But I think the problem is with the game, or a driver issue.

The driver was released a few weaks ago.
Accually my hard drive is getting ready to crap and I had to format the drive last week so everything is fresh and up to date. I did use a SP2 upgrade program instead of going through windowsupdate.com. Do you think that might have caused it? I did use windowsupdate.com to install direct x 9.0c though.

Ok fixed the prob. EA said to run as windows 2000 in compatability mode. And its working so far. Atleast it started to install. Thank you guys.
