I can't get my Palm Tungsten T to "HotSync" with my PC using Bluetooth. :(

I have Microsofts Bluetooth Receiver and have their Keyboard and Mouse connected with no problems. I've searched the web and requested support from Palm but to no avail.

It's down to "Virtual Ports" as far as I can make out. I keep getting the following error on my TT when I try to connect. Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application

The TT allows you to select a Virtual COM Port (1 to 9) to connect to but other than the standard COM1 and COM2 in device manager I connot work out how to create a virual port. Palm sent me this but I believe it's MS that has poor driver support in this instance...

If you have a Bluetooth? enabled computer running Windows® 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP Home Edition or XP Pro, you can use Bluetooth technology to perform wireless HotSync® operations.
NB: At present Bluetooth is not compatible with Windows NT or Windows 95. Follow the steps below to prepare your computer for a Bluetooth HotSync operation.
Use the Bluetooth setup software on your computer to open or create a virtual serial port for Bluetooth communication. (See the documentation included with your computer instructions on changing port settings).

Click the HotSync Manager icon in the Windows system tray and select the 'Local Serial' option.
Click the HotSync Manager icon again and choose 'Setup...'. Select the 'Local' tab and from the pick list choose the virtual COM (serial) port you created/selected when you installed the Bluetooth software. How do I do this as the MS software never gave me that option??? :frown:
Click 'OK' to close the 'Setup' window.
To configure your 'Connection' settings on the Palm Tungsten T handheld, proceed as follows:
On the 'Home' screen, tap the 'Prefs' icon.
In the 'Communication' section, select 'Connection'.
Tap 'New...' and enter a suitable name in the connection 'Name' field.
(For this example we will use 'Bluetooth to PC'.)
Tap the pick list beside 'Connect To' and choose 'PC'.
Tap the pick list next to 'Via' and select 'Bluetooth'.
Select the box labelled 'Tap to Find' next to 'Device' and Bluetooth discovery will begin searching for discoverable 'Bluetooth Devices'.
In 'Discovery Results', choose the name of your desktop/laptop PC. You would have created this name when you first installed Bluetooth on the PC.
If the correct name is not listed, tap 'Find More'.
When asked if you want to add ['PC name'] to the 'Trusted Device List', select 'Yes'.
Enter a passkey for ['PC name'] and then click 'OK'. Do the same thing when prompted on the PC.
Now tap 'OK' on the 'Edit Connection' screen and tap 'Done' to return to the main 'Preferences' screen.
You have now established a connection with your PC and added it to your handheld's list of trusted devices.
Now that your PC has been configured and the two devices recognise each other, the next step is to configure the Bluetooth HotSync settings on your Palm Tungsten T handheld.
On the 'Home' screen, select the HotSync icon.
Tap 'Local' and from the pick list below the icon, choose 'Bluetooth to PC'.
To initiate the HotSync operation, tap the icon in the centre of the screen.

I'm getting annoyed at this now so any help would be appreciated.

No it doesn't. There is a "Wireless Link" icon but thats not it as it just shows which periperals are connected. I believe it's MS. When you install MS software drivers for the Wireless Desktop you only get the option to install Intellimouse and keyboard software and not a stand alone Bluetooth Driver.

Just a thought. Is there a "Generic" Bluetooth control Panel that can be installed? I mean by another manufacturer? :)
