Gigabyte 7950 v1 (older 6+6 volt unlocked version)
Z87X-UD3H
13.152 driver

I've been having a lot of trouble with OC GURU II. I either get a prompt saying 'Graphics Card Smart Tuner. has stopped working'
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: OC_GURU.exe
Application Version: 1.5.1.1
Application Timestamp: 52452c03
Fault Module Name: GVDisplay.dll
Fault Module Version: 2.8.5.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 52452b6c
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00003985
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: e196
Additional Information 2: e196e9d4f1aa34851df68670e5bda8c1

Or I get a prompt saying 'Please confirm this VGA card!'

Everything is plugged in, card seems to work fine, I can even oc and stress test it with results similar to other 7950s I've had.

hmm, I can't say I have any experience with that program, but you could try MSI afterburner or sapphire trix if you need a software OC program. They usually work across different manufacturers.

I'm not asking about using other overclock programs. There's a specific reason I need to get this one to work. Or it's not really a need, more of a convenience... do I really need to justify why I want this problem solved? This is not supposed to be like this.

Jeez, I swear, if you asked "My left arm is broken, how do I fix it?" around here, people would tell you to use the right arm and argue with you if you insisted on fixing it.

The program apparently has some great features, not so much for GPU control but for all around control (especially for a z87 gigabyte board, but I assume for all gbt or z87s really). Of course I've googled the issue, other people have the problem but haven't seen a clear fix besides a few people literally saying 'RMA the card', including a GBT rep.

Have you tried uninstalling all drivers and software related to the GPU, then running something like Driver Fusion to remove the leftovers?

I'd do that and then reinstall everything from scratch.

Motherboard-related software from all manufacturers is notoriously buggy. There is definitely some merit to the suggestions that you use a more established GPU overclock program like Trixx or Afterburner.

Yea I removed everything and reinstalled, and i tried a different pci-e slot.

If it's the programs fault, and you know that's the answer, I can accept that. But I have no reason to believe this highly praised program is at fault.
