Computer help men:

I am currently experiencing what has to be the weirdest issue I have encountered in all my years of PC use. I simply cannot get a working monitor.

I recently built a new computer; a 6700k; with a 970, 750watt psu; the computer was completely stable for a week straight on my regular old Sony and Dell 24 inch 1080p monitors; I then decided to swap out the 970 for a 980ti and I picked up an Acer 27inch 270HU Gsync IPS monitor. The next few days I began experiencing hard locks on my computer; no BSODs just complete lock ups. I disabled Gsync and the problem remitted for about 3 days and the computer seemed stable; and then I started experiencing BSODs. GPU/CPU/Memory diagnostics were all normal; rolling back graphics drivers did not help; formatting the computer and reinstalling windows did not help; it was just BSODing every few minutes after start up. I thought it might have been my power supply or my video card or memory issue or the monitor was just broken.

I disconnected that new PC and hooked up my old gaming comp a core i7 870 with a GTX770 in it, 800watt PSU (which ive had for 5 years, and have never had any stability issues with); and I started experiencing the same exact issues with the monitor; hard locks and BSODs. I figured it has to be this monitor so I took it back to microcenter and exchanged it for an Asus MG279q; a freesync 27inch 144hz IPS (I had sworn off gsync at this point). I came home; plugged it in to my old gaming comp....and SAME FUCKING THING; hard locks and BSODS; I disconnected the display port and hooked it up via HDMI; more hard locks and BSODS. Computer runs just fine when it is hooked up to this 1080p sony ive been using for 5 years.

I just have no idea what is going on; how could two different systems with different hardware both be experiencing the same issue with different brands of monitors. The only common denominator is that these are high refresh rate, high resolution monitors. I cant find anything online about similar issue like this; does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? I mean its possible I have just had unbelievably bad luck...but a monitor hardlocking multiple different computers? I feel like im some twilight zone right now.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening? Am I just cursed; at this point im just going to return this monitor and just give up on 1440p and just use my old monitors because at least I can play games on them.

You may be having issues created from "bi-direction" on the video port.

I would start disabling each/any/every
& all available video settings (in BIOS, OS & Monitor itself) and start there.

You are telling us about blue screen after blue screen, but haven't indicated that you are doing anything to look at what these screens are saying. That may allow you to stop guess at what the problem might be.

Whocrashed is a great tool for looking at the minidumps and getting at least a rough idea of what they mean.
